Titanium

Titanium is a lustrous transition metal with a silver color, low density, and high strength. It is a strong and lightweight refractory metal. Titanium is resistant to corrosion in sea water, aqua regia and chlorine. Alloys of titanium are critical to the aerospace industry but, due to their numerous unique properties, are also used in medical, chemical and military applications, as well as in sporting goods.

Shah International supplies the below Titanium Grades : Titanium Grade 2, Titanium Grade 5, Titanium Grade 7

Titanium Grade 2

UNS Number R50400

Titanium Grade 2 is unalloyed Titanium with standard Oxygen. It is called the “workhorse” of the commercially pure titanium industry, thanks to its varied usability and wide availability. It possesses good weldability, strength, ductility and formability.

Titanium Grade 5

UNS Number R56400

Titanium Grade 5 alloy is the most widely used titanium grade. It is a two phase α+βtitanium alloy, with aluminum as the alpha stabilizer and vanadium as the beta stabilizer. This high-strength alloy can be used at cryogenic temperatures to about 800°F (427°C). Ti-6Al-4V, Grade 5 alloy is used in the annealed condition and in the solution treated and aged condition. This alloy is produced by primarymelting using vacuum arc (VAR), electron beam (EB), or plasma arc hearthmelting (PAM). Remelting is achieved by one or two vacuum arc steps.
